Band Director

Gareth Tomberlin, MMEd.

Mr. Tomberlin is a native of Concord, NC where he attended Concord Sr. High School and was active in all Band Ensembles 9th-12th grade years and a member of the Marching Spider Band. He then attended Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. While attending WSSU, he was involved in Concert, Symphonic, and Jazz Bands, as well as Trumpet Ensemble and a member of The Red Sea of Sound (RSOS) Marching Band. Mr. Tomberlin also joined Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America, Inc, a music-based fraternity; along with Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Inc. He remains an active alumnus with his fraternities and the university as a whole.

As of August 2024, Mr. Tomberlin completed his Masters in Music: Music Education Degree from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He does plan to earn his Doctoral of Musical Arts in Wind Band Conducting in the future. He stays active playing by performing with the Piedmont Primetime Community, where he serves at Secretary of the E-Board, and other community-based ensembles in and around the immediate area and state. Mr. Tomberlin also continues his Professional Development (P/D) by working with other Band Directors around the state of North Carolina.
